So, for this post, I'd like to acknowledge and congratulate some friends of the WMC for some recent kudos and nominations:

My producing partner Sheila Jaffe for this years Emmy Nomination for Casting HBO's 'Entourage.'

My friend, and editor of the Hebrew Hammer, Dean Holland's Emmy Nomination for editing NBC's 'The Office.' (See above link)

My friend Kevin McDonald's write up in the NY Times today about his one man show, and his  work with the Kids In The Hall.

And last but not least, my pal Adam Dorn's (AKA Mocean Worker) NPR piece on his new album, Cinco De Mowo (go buy it...it's really, really good).

As we say in Jew, 'Mazel Tov!'

Just For Laughs And Some Updates 07/24/2007

This was my first time in  Montreal, and had an incredible time at the Just For Laughs Festival. If you've never been, I highly recommend it. I've been to lots of festivals, and this one does it right in the rightest of ways. Great city, amazing comics, and very liberal social programs.

Saw the Kids In The Hall on Friday night and they were incredible. The next night I saw Kevin McDonald's one man show, and he/it was fantastic. If and when he does it in LA (or anywhere else for that matter) I  suggest you check it out. Also got to hang and see Lewis Black, Susie Essman, Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood, and a bunch of other really gifted comics do their thing.

So, the WMC is coming to LA for some pitches shortly. I've teamed up with Sheila Jaffe and DMC on an animated film project based in part on the amazing work they're doing with the Felix Foundation. So, I'll be spending a good portion of my time in August in hell, AKA Los Angeles.

Looking forward to Fall as well. I will be teaching a class in comedy writing for the screen at Yale starting September. I think I've finally made my mother proud....

...she would've preferred that it was Harvard...but, she's proud nonetheless.

That's it for now.

Montreal Just For Laughs 07/18/2007

So, looking forward to this weekend.

Tmw I'm seeing one of my all-time favorite bands, Crowded House, play. Yeah, I know what you're thinking..."1982 called, and they want their band back..." but I truly think Neil Finn is one of the greatest songwriters around, and I love the man's music.

On Friday, I'm going up to Montreal (1st time) for the 'Just For Laughs Festival' to see my friend, the brilliant Kevin McDonald,  perform  with the 'Kids In The Hall,' and then he's doing his one man show on Saturday. I've heard incredible things about it (and not just from him), and I can't wait to see him shine. Kevin is one of the funniest, nicest people on the planet. And as I type this, I feel like I'm in 'The Manchurian Candidate.' But it's true...I swear!

I'm currently blogging from bed, killing time navel blogging. I even took a pic of me navel-bed-blogging because I'm a  narcissistic insomniac (see below). I did the best I could to cover up the hairy vagina on my chest.

Wow, this blog thing can get a bit out of hand, right? What else...went up to Blue sky/Fox Animation today and had a great development meeting on the movie I'm writing for them. It's going to be a wild, funny film, and I'm really excited about it.

Also, we have an investor who's supposedly interested in HH2...so, if you're a Hammer fan, pls send out good Hammer vibes (sorry Odd Todd, I'm stealing your lingo) into the ether. The second HH is 18 (a chai) times better than the first...and in fact, if you want to read an excerpt from the film, go to the articles and blogs section of the website, click on the Suicide Girls logo at the top, and read the two scenes I posted a little while ago.

That's it for now. If I don't talk to you --  you being the three people who probably read random blogs -- before the weekend, I'll report from MJFL. If nothing exciting happens, I'll make something up...

Hope you're healthy, happy, and having a good night.

Welcome to The WMC! 07/18/2007

My back hurts. I've been sitting here for the past day and a half "building" a website for my company, and I can't believe I actually did this. Just wanted to thank Weebly.com for an amazing piece of software. So, this is the blog section of the website. I'll be providing news, telling fun stories that relate to The WMC, and when something pisses me off enough, a rant or three. Keep coming back for updates, and please feel free to contact me by clicking on the logo designed by Adam Levite (associatesinscience) on the contact page.

For now, poke around the site to see what we're  up to. As I'm new at this, any and all suggesions to make the site better are welcome!

Talk to you soon...

JK
